Where your money goes and what it means

Your money will be sent straight to Jemanesh, the woman who founded and still oversees Yididiya school.  She uses the money to pay the cook (we're employing people!) and buy the food (we're supporting local farmers!).

Jemanesh has 58 kids who she puts through school because their families can't afford it. These are families she has personally sought out through community outreach. Jemanesh lets one child from impoverished families into the school it hopes that that child will one day be able to help elevate their families out of the cycle of poverty.

Meet the cook: tsehaynesh

Jamanesh doesn't stop at elevating children. If she sees an injustice, she won't rest until she corrects it. Jamanesh heard about Tsehaynesh's story and immediately offered her a position with the school.

Three years ago, Tsehaynesh's parents were insistent on Tsehaynesh's marriage despite her young age and career goals. Tsehaynesh refused to cede to her parent's wishes and was forced to relocate from her home. When Jamanesh heard of this, she asked Tsehaynesh to come work at the school. Tsehaynesh was happy with her janitorial duties, but when Fuel Their Future's feeding program started, she quickly absorbed the role of chef.

Tsehaynesh says she is happy with her job and her life, which is evident from her broad smiles. She hopes to some day be a small business owner herself.
