Meet the children

Michoth's father passed away and because her family was blessed with so many children, her mother is not doing financially well. The other students at Yadidiya, while scouting in the community for impoverished families to buy Christmas presents for, stumbled upon Michoth and her family. Jamanesh invited her to study in hopes of one day providing for her family.

Mesafint's mother went through a divorce after having two children. Because of this heavy responsibility, Mesafint's mother had little to no financial support. The three of them moved in with Mesafint's grandparents. When Jamanesh found them, Mesafint was so malnourished, she brought him to Yididiya and the feeding program.

Maron and Roben's father left after they were born. Their mother did not have family to turn to nor work to rely on. Jamanesh found it important to enroll both siblings in the feeding program to ensure one didn't go without. 

*While Maron and Roben are both in the feeding program, through the chaos of the day, we were unable to interview Roben. 

Najat is fortunate to have both of her parents, however they can struggle to provide for a large family. Najat's father works in the street markets selling goods, but her mother lost her job cleaning the streets. 

Unfortunately, Desu's parents are impoverished and out of work. Jamanesh discovered Desu's older siblings were not given the chance to get an education. Jamanesh sought out Desu to give him and his family a fighting chance. 

You may notice that Elsabet was born with dwarfism. Because of where she was born and the status of her family living in the country/village, they hid her away, ashamed of her attributes. When Jamanesh heard of this injustice, she persuaded the family to allow Elsabet to learn and eat at Yididiya.
